Thanks again for all from the FHWA DelMar Office and the other agencies in the City Crescent Building who were able to go with Young Government Leaders (YGL) to volunteer at the Maryland Food Bank on April 20th! We got to meet a lot of other civic-minded federal employees, and like-minded citizens who also volunteered that day. Boxes were made and food was sorted over a four-hour period that was very productive and saved a lot of money for the charitable organization!

Maryland Federal Workers honored for Excellence in Public Service
Baltimore – May 3, 2013, the Baltimore Federal Executive Board (FEB) conducted the 46th Excellence in Federal Career Awards Luncheon and Ceremony. This historic, regional, federal employee recognition program is in conjunction with Public Service Recognition Week (May 5 - 11) honoring and recognizing the accomplishments and outstanding job performance of Federal employees. Nearly 600 Federal officials, employees and military service members, family members and guests from agencies throughout Maryland attended this prestigious event.
The event, hosted by the Chair of the Baltimore Federal Executive Board, Dr. Reginald F. Wells, Deputy Commissioner for Human Resources for the Social Security Administration, was held at Martin’s West in Baltimore and featured the Baltimore Area U.S. Coast Guard Color Guard. Maryland Senator’s Barbara A. Mikulski and Benjamin L. Cardin and Representative Elijah E. Cummings presented letters of recognition to the Gold and Silver award winners.

When stress has you in knots, a great way to unwind is a quick and simple meditation. Go to FOH’s Stress Awareness Page to find some easy to follow instructions on how to meditate. There’s also some tips on deep relaxation and a 3-minute video relaxation experience.
So whether you re-invigorate yourself with meditation, deep relaxation, reading, playing the guitar, jogging, laughing with a friend, or playing with a pet, for your health’s sake, make sure you tackle your stress head-on and… take time for yourself—take time to unwind!
If you find that stress is becoming overwhelming for you, get help from your Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Check your agency’s intranet or speak to someone in your HR department to get contact information for EAP.
