Dear FEB Member Agencies,
On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Baltimore Federal Executive Board, I would like to thank all those who were instrumental in the success of the EEO Diversity and Inclusion Symposium, held on Wednesday, June 19, 2013. The EEO Diversity and Inclusion committee members (from a number of FEB agencies) led by the Chair, Leon Patterson, worked long hours and very hard to ensure the success of the program. Additionally, the Symposium was attended by nearly 30 agencies or organizations to include one of our largest FEB member agencies, the Social Security Administration (SSA).
Without the dedicated support of the SSA senior leadership the success of the Symposium would not have been possible. SSA went out of its way to provide the logistical support needed to include audio visual and closed captioning support and printing of the Symposium program. Printing was also provided by the VA Maryland Health Care System. This was an INTERAGENCY event and was typical of the types of cost-effective training and professional development opportunities offered to local FEB member agencies and local government and community partners by the national Federal Executive Board Network.
Thank You once more for your support and dedication to the success of events sponsored by the Baltimore Federal Executive Board!
Richard H. Howell, Executive Director
Baltimore Federal Executive Board
Thanks again for all from the FHWA DelMar Office and the other agencies in the City Crescent Building who were able to go with Young Government Leaders (YGL) to volunteer at the Maryland Food Bank on April 20th! We got to meet a lot of other civic-minded federal employees, and like-minded citizens who also volunteered that day. Boxes were made and food was sorted over a four-hour period that was very productive and saved a lot of money for the charitable organization!
Feel free to take a look at the photos and short video clips to see what you may have missed:

Maryland Federal Workers honored for Excellence in Public Service
Baltimore – May 3, 2013, the Baltimore Federal Executive Board (FEB) conducted the 46th Excellence in Federal Career Awards Luncheon and Ceremony. This historic, regional, federal employee recognition program is in conjunction with Public Service Recognition Week (May 5 - 11) honoring and recognizing the accomplishments and outstanding job performance of Federal employees. Nearly 600 Federal officials, employees and military service members, family members and guests from agencies throughout Maryland attended this prestigious event.
The event, hosted by the Chair of the Baltimore Federal Executive Board, Dr. Reginald F. Wells, Deputy Commissioner for Human Resources for the Social Security Administration, was held at Martin’s West in Baltimore and featured the Baltimore Area U.S. Coast Guard Color Guard. Maryland Senator’s Barbara A. Mikulski and Benjamin L. Cardin and Representative Elijah E. Cummings presented letters of recognition to the Gold and Silver award winners.
Federal Employees: Please contact your agency’s human resources office for the latest information on how the furlough program may affect your agency.
Some agencies will furlough their employees and some will not (due to differences in their financial status) or may reduce the number of furlough days through the end of FY2013.
The guidance provided by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) website may be found at: http://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/pay-leave/furlough-guidance/#url=Administrative-Furlough, but we recommend that you monitor your agency’s decisions.
